Who We Serve

Garden Court Residents and the Santa Barbara Community:

The residents of Garden Court are the people in our community who worked all their lives in Santa Barbara to make it a better place and are deserving to be able to enjoy their golden years as an active part of the community they helped to build and sustain.

Many current residents have lived in Santa Barbara for a very ling time and worked in the everyday jobs that served Santa Barbara as laborers, nurses, business owners, teachers, realtors, etc. All walks of life are represented in the community that makes up Garden Court.

“We owned and operated a 4 star restaurant and night club in downtown Santa Barbara. My favorite part was that we served everyone from movie stars to the average Joe.” - Fran

There is a strong reciprocal relationship between organizations that work in the community and the residents of Garden Court. Many community groups are involved; among them are the Braille institute, Senior Peer Counseling, religious services groups, music performers, and youth groups that do activities with residents. Residents are very involved in the community itself – they help with fundraising for charities every month, and attend many events hosted by community organizations and charities.
