Dear Community Member;

Garden Court Inc. is a Santa Barbara non-profit that serves 97 local low-income seniors by providing housing and supportive services. Garden Court Inc. helps fill critical gaps in the lives of these needy seniors assisting residents in paying rent and medical bills, in purchasing medical supplies and clothes, as well as in meeting other essential resident needs. In 2006, Garden Court Inc. has established an endowment which funds these necessities.

To continue to fund the endowment, Garden Court Inc. will hold its second ever fundraiser on November 14, 2008 at The Canary Hotel. As a condition of the development of this hotel, the City of Santa Barbara required that a fundraiser be held at this location to guarantee continued support to the low-income seniors who were forced to leave the old Carrillo Hotel by its redevelopment.

Thank you for joining us in our community’s effort to support Santa Barbara’s most economically vulnerable and deserving citizens. By proving funding through the donation of goods for use in the raffle and live and silent auctions, you will help ensure a successful event.

The Garden Court Endowment Fund is dedicated to assisting frail, low income seniors to live independently in Santa Barbara for as long as possible, by raising and providing financial support for housing and for medical emergencies.

The Garden Court Endowment Fund

The creation, operational success, and financial well being of any independent living or assisted living facility for frail, low-income seniors in Santa Barbara requires the community’s support and long-term commitment to subsidize the cost of such facilities.

This fund may be used to meet the operational costs of maintaining Garden Court on De La Vina, to provide scholarships to Garden Court seniors to assist with short term housing related needs, and to promote the development of an “assisted living facility” for the low- income seniors of the Santa Barbara area.

The mission of nonprofit Garden Court, Inc. is to provide affordable rental housing with services to low-income seniors, and to secure the needed funding and capital equipment. We serve our elders by offering unconditional love, nurturing personal growth, celebrating life, and making a difference in the quality life.

The Garden Court Endowment Fund was established through grants from the Alice Tweed Tuohy Foundation and the Hutton Foundation and has ongoing support from the Hotel Andalucia.
